Most Common Mental Health Conditions

Depression

Depression is a common but serious mood disorder that affects how a person feels, thinks, and functions in daily life. It goes beyond normal sadness or temporary emotional lows. People with depression often experience persistent feelings of hopelessness, loss of interest or pleasure, low energy, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, and sometimes physical symptoms such as headaches or pain. Depression can interfere with work, relationships, motivation, and overall quality of life. It is a medical condition—not a personal weakness—and it is highly treatable.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural human response to stress, but when it becomes persistent, overwhelming, or difficult to control, it may develop into an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders can cause excessive worry, restlessness, muscle tension, irritability, racing thoughts, difficulty concentrating, and physical symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, stomach upset, or trouble sleeping. These symptoms can interfere with work, relationships, and daily functioning. Anxiety disorders are medical conditions—not personality flaws—and they are highly treatable.

ADHD

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and/or hyperactivity that interfere with daily functioning. ADHD is not a behavioral choice or a lack of discipline; it is a brain-based condition that affects how individuals regulate focus, manage impulses, organize tasks, and sustain effort.

ADHD is a highly treatable condition. With proper diagnosis and a personalized management plan—including behavioral strategies, organizational supports, therapy, and medication when appropriate—individuals can achieve strong functional outcomes and improved quality of life.
